As Above considers life, death, and the afterlife through a poetic exploration of alchemical processes found in the landscape. The project was photographed in the Yukon Territory in 2021, in the area where my Dad’s ashes had been scattered two years prior. The works centre the alchemical touchstones of earth-air-fire-water, and consider transmutation as a possible antidote to death.

Silver-gelatin photographic paper exposed to water, stones and sediment in Little Salmon Lake, 11x14 inches each (2021); silver-gelatin photographs experimentally processed with sunlight and fire, 8x10 inches each (2022 - 2025).
