As Above considers life, death, and the afterlife, through a poetic exploration of alchemical processes found in the landscape. The project was photographed in the Yukon Territory in 2019 and 2021, in the area where my Dad’s ashes were scattered. It materialized over the course of several years, eventually manifesting as a series of experimental darkroom prints and a single edition publication. The works centre the alchemical touchstones of earth-air-fire-water and they consider transmutation as a possible antidote to death.
